Laila Siliņa

Nutritionist

Food is never JUST food. It is also about taste and pleasure, memories and associations, ritual and togetherness. That is why the conversation about nutrition does not stop at the analysis of menus and examinations, because the psychological and social aspects are equally important. Also, there is no body system that cannot be influenced by our diet, so targeting our eating habits improves health, well-being and overall quality of life.

I am a nutritionist with a medical degree and a master's degree in nutrition science, as well as a fitness trainer, and by combining all this knowledge and continuing to develop it, I see
the patient as a whole. My greatest satisfaction is to see this "big picture" in each patient in order to make individualized, achievable and effective recommendations.

My passion is nutritional psychology. My work focuses on improving the relationship with food and the perception of one's body, working with both eating disorders and the correction of increased/reduced weight that may have been caused by emotional eating or binge eating. In-depth knowledge, practice and experience in this field, including personal experience with eating disorders, enables me to understand the deeply emotional aspects of nutrition and the path to recovery.

I also provide nutrition counselling for chronic conditions (cardiovascular, digestive, respiratory, type 2 diabetes), nutrition for athletic goals and for anyone motivated to change and improve their eating habits for a healthier and more fulfilling life.

I am strongly opposed to radical short-term diets and unreasonable restrictions, which only add extra stress and trap you in a vicious cycle of restriction, failure and self-blaming. Focusing instead on long-term changes that are individually tailored to the patient's state of health and lifestyle.
