Physiotherapist
A physiotherapist consultation is necessary if:
- there are movement disorders
- there is back, muscle and joint pain
- there is increased physical activity (e.g. in athletes)
- there is a need to restore and strengthen muscle strength
- there is a sedentary work, etc.
During the first visit, the physiotherapist conducts an examination or assessment of the patient – posture, gait, movement ability and quality are evaluated, muscle strength and length are checked, as well as special tests are performed, depending on the complaints and objective findings. If necessary, the physiotherapist refers the patient for additional examinations. After the examination, the physiotherapist agrees with the patient on further therapy goals and, based on them, develops a therapy plan.
Depending on the patient’s problem, a physiotherapist may use therapeutic exercises, massage elements, various soft tissue techniques, as well as various therapeutic equipment. Physiotherapy tasks include taking care not only of the visibly moving parts of the body – joints and muscles, but also of the ever-present and less noticeable functions of the respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular systems.
